We are Joe and Amy Hendrigsman, missionaries to Oaxaca, Mexico. Our burden and desire is to take the light of the Gospel to who are sitting in darkness.
Joe was saved and baptized at a young age at his father's church in Green River, Wyoming. The summer between his sophmore and junior year of high school, Joe's family moved to Edinburgh, Texas, so that his parents could attend a Spanish language school. Joe's family crossed the border into Progresso, Mexico, frequently and little did Joe know that these crossings would be the first of many. His first trip into Mexico was life changing and his love for the culture and the people has been growing ever since.
Many years later, in 2006, Joe took his first trip to the state of Oaxaca. As he drove through the pueblos and mountains of Oaxaca, he felt the peace of God come over him and he knew that Oaxaca is where God wanted him to go as a missionary.
Amy spent ten years of her childhood as a missionary kid in Uganda, East Africa. Living in a christian home allowed Amy to come to know the Lord as a child. She always felt God's calling to be a missionary like her parents, Jeff and Robbin Demarest, who are currently missionaries in Durban, South Africa. Due to growing up in Africa, Amy has always had a burden for the lost and has a desire to help those who are less fortunate.
Amy became a nurse in 2013 and looks forward to using her nursing skills as an avenue to reach the people of Oaxaca. While in Oaxaca in the fall of 2014, Amy got to see first hand not only the need of healthcare in the small villages, but also the great need for Christ. Amy looks forward to ministering alongside her husband as a missionary once again reaching those who need the Lord.
